Historic Farm Tour
We invite you to step back in time 170 years and experience the rich heritage of our property, where the Burton family have lived for six generations.
Our story begins when James Burton (1793) was transported as a convict to Sydney Cove in 1816 aboard the "Atlas III". In 1828 he and his wife Elizabeth received a Free Settler's Land Grant at O'Connell and reared 6 children. Their eldest son, James and his wife Mary purchased our property in 1856. They built their family home here and reared ten children.
The Convict's Great Great Grandson will give you a guided tour of the Slab Hut Burton family home and an impressive display of artefacts and historic farm machinery. See what is ready to pick from the vegetable garden or sit quietly for a moment in the memorial garden. After your tour, enjoy morning tea on the verandah.
